Vinolingo ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains where your data goes.

Data We Collect

Vinolingo collects no personal data. We do not require an account, an email address or any identifying information, and no data you create in the app is sent to us.

Your Voice: Microphone & Speech Recognition

For Say It Back practice, Vinolingo uses your microphone and Apple's Speech Recognition framework. Your speech is sent to Apple to be recognized. Apple handles it under Apple's own privacy policy, and Apple may process it on Apple's servers. Vinolingo receives only the recognized text, which it uses to calculate your score on your device.

Vinolingo does not store or upload your recordings. No audio is saved by the app, and no audio or transcript is sent to us or to any third party.

Vinolingo asks for microphone and speech recognition access only when you first choose to practice out loud. You can turn either off at any time in the iOS Settings app; listening to pronunciations and every other feature keep working.

Study Progress and Tasting Notes: iCloud Sync

Your study progress (scores, streaks and study sessions), your tasting notes and your wine list are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, Apple syncs them to your own private iCloud storage so they are available on your other devices. This data is stored in your iCloud account, and we cannot access it. You can turn off iCloud for Vinolingo in iOS Settings > [your name] > iCloud.

App preferences (such as the Show IPA setting) are stored only on your device.

In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not have access to your payment information. Apple manages your purchase history; the app checks it on your device to unlock Pro.

Analytics & Tracking

Vinolingo does not use analytics SDKs, tracking pixels or advertising identifiers. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not share or sell any data.

This Website

vinolingo.app sets no cookies and has no accounts or forms. Page views are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which runs without cookies, does not fingerprint visitors and gives us only aggregate numbers (pages, referrers, countries, browser types). The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the pages.

Third-Party Services

Apart from Apple's speech recognition, iCloud and StoreKit described above, Vinolingo does not send data to any third-party service. Browsing terms and listening to pronunciations work offline.

App Store Privacy Label

The App Store privacy label for Vinolingo is "Data Not Collected". Speech recognition, iCloud sync and purchases are provided by Apple, and the developer cannot access that data.

Children's Privacy

Vinolingo does not knowingly collect any data from children. The app refers to alcoholic beverages and is not directed at children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. If Vinolingo starts collecting any data, this policy and the App Store privacy label will say so before that version is released.
